Obituary for Nelwyn Elizabeth Thurman (Tompkins)

Nelwyn Elizabeth Tompkins Thurman, Esquire, 73, of Mountain View, passed away August 26, 2016. She was born in Houston, Texas on January 16, 1943 to Farris "Parcey" Tompkins and Mable Tompkins. Nelwyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for over 50 years and enjoyed music, reading, helping others and caring for children. Nelwyn was an attorney and worked for the relay service for the deaf, she was also a professional musician.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Tony Thurman of Mountain View; children Sara Carol Daily of Oregon and Rachel Thurman of Abilene, Texas; sister Carol Arthur of Fairfield, Texas. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends.
Nelwyn was preceded in death by her father Farris "Parcey" Tompkins, mother Mable Tompkins; daugher Jennifer Pereng and brother Bill Moss.
Visitation will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church in Mountain View on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with President Micah Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pall Bearers are Joe Beck, Joel Dunlap, Sr., Doug Gonser, Sr., Norman Kane, Jason Morriss, and Micah Woods. Honorary Pall Bearers are President Ronnie Brown, President Bruce Berkheimer, Robert W. Bytheway, Jr., and Jay W. Henderson.
